Someone says my hotel is closed, full or has moved
Don't go with them. Call your hotel yourself before you believe anyone.
A friendly person near a station or your hotel lane says your booking is shut, flooded, full or moved, then offers to take you somewhere else. The somewhere else is usually a travel agency or a hotel that pays them a cut. Travellers report it soon after arriving, when they are tired and often have no data.
Say this
“No thank you. I'll call my hotel.”
In Hindi: Nahin, shukriya. Main khud hotel ko phone karunga.
Do this
- Stop walking with them. Stand somewhere with other people.
- Call or message the hotel using the number on your booking confirmation, not a number the stranger gives you.
- Keep going to the address on your booking. Ask a shop or a uniformed guard, not the person who stopped you.
- If the hotel really cannot take you, ask the hotel to arrange the alternative.
Use this instead
Your booking confirmation, the hotel's phone number and the booking app's support chat.
