Someone says the ticket counter moved and offers to book my train
Probably a scam. Book through the official railway site or a counter you found yourself.
A person near the station says the foreign-tourist counter is closed or moved, then takes you to an agency that adds a big booking fee. The UK government tells travellers to avoid people at railway stations offering tickets and tours.
Say this
“No thanks. I'll book it myself.”
In Hindi: Nahin, main khud book karunga.
Do this
- Don't follow. Check the station's own signs or ask a uniformed railway official.
- Look for the counter yourself, or book online through Indian Railways' official booking site before you travel.
- If an agent is unavoidable, ask for the full price in writing first.
Use this instead
The official railway booking site or the station's own counters.
