The prepaid taxi booth adds a small service charge
Normal. The booth is run under Delhi Traffic Police and gives you a signed receipt.
Delhi Traffic Police's page says the prepaid booths add a small service charge to the base fare and give you a signed receipt with the taxi number, destination, charges and fare. The system is optional, so you can also use an app cab or the metro.
Say this
“Can I have the receipt, please?”
Do this
- Pay at the booth, not to the driver at the kerb.
- Check the receipt shows your destination, the taxi number and the fare.
- Hand the receipt to the driver at the car. Don't pay anything extra.
When it is not normal
A baggage charge, if any, is listed on the receipt too. If the driver asks for more than the receipt says, say no. The page says you can SMS 56767 to complain about a driver's behaviour.

Prepaid booths are at the airport and several railway stations.
