Walking from Patel Chowk#
Come out at the Patel Chowk end and walk along Sansad Marg. Jantar Mantar is on Sansad Marg (Parliament Street). We have not confirmed which gate number is best, so follow the signs for Sansad Marg or ask a guard.
Walking from Janpath#
Janpath is closer on paper and sits on the Violet Line. Walk towards Sansad Marg.
Pick by the line you are already on#
- Yellow Line: get off at Patel Chowk. Central Secretariat and Rajiv Chowk are also on the Yellow Line, one stop either side of it on this stretch.
- Violet Line: get off at Janpath.
- Blue Line: change to the Yellow Line at Rajiv Chowk, which is on both lines, then ride to Patel Chowk. Or walk from Rajiv Chowk if you don't mind the extra minutes.
- Any other line: use DMRC's journey planner and ask for Patel Chowk or Janpath as the destination. We haven't mapped every interchange, so we won't guess here.
Train times#
YoMetro lists Patel Chowk's first Yellow Line trains at around 5:47 AM (towards Samaypur Badli) and 5:50 AM (towards HUDA City Centre), with the last at around 11:49 PM and 11:36 PM. That is a third-party listing, not a DMRC timetable, so treat it as a guide and check DMRC before a very early or late trip.
Before you walk over#
Jantar Mantar's own opening hours matter more than the metro's: it runs roughly sunrise to sunset (some sources say 6 AM to 6 PM). Our timings and ticket guide shows the conflicting official and travel-site numbers side by side. Arriving by metro at 7 PM and finding it shut is the most common wasted trip.
What if the station is closed?#
Metro stations around Jantar Mantar are sometimes closed for entry and exit during protests. On 2 October 2026 DMRC closed 12 central Delhi stations, including Patel Chowk and Janpath, and reopened them the same night. Read our list of closed stations and what to do when your station is shut. For general rules, see Delhi Metro rules for tourists.
