The Golden Triangle is Delhi → Agra → Jaipur, in that order, over 5–7 days. Delhi for the Mughal core, Agra for the Taj Mahal, Jaipur for forts and markets. Run it in this direction and the Taj lands mid-trip with shopping last, so luggage stays light early.

The Order: Delhi → Agra → Jaipur#
Start in Delhi (you land here), train to Agra for the Taj, then road to Jaipur via Fatehpur Sikri, and return to Delhi by train or short flight. Agra → Jaipur → Delhi backtracks; Delhi → Jaipur → Agra puts the heaviest shopping city first. One city keeps two nights so you are not packing daily.

Train vs Car#
Car means door-to-door, sunrise Taj and shopping stops on demand. Train means faster city-center to city-center with no highway fatigue. Most first-timers mix: Delhi→Agra by Gatimaan train (~1 hr 50), Agra→Jaipur by private car (~4.5 hrs with a Fatehpur Sikri halt), Jaipur→Delhi by train (~5 hrs) or short flight. Solo travelers often prefer trains for fixed pricing and crowds; families with kids usually prefer the car's flexibility.

Booking order: trains ~21 days out → Taj tickets 3 days out (never Friday) → Jaipur palace light show a day out → same-city cabs on arrival.
